Company Of Heroes:Tales Of Valor in Spring 2009

Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor

If there's one developer out there that's boldly pushing the boundaries of the real-time strategy genre with great games, it's got to be Relic. Look at 2006's Company of Heroes, the company's acclaimed World War II title. CoH masterfully blended a morale system, destructible environments, a cool resource system that forced you to expand around the map, and top-notch graphics. The end result was a game that felt like a World War II battlefield come to life on your desktop. Now Relic is coming back with Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor. Instead of simply delivering more of the same, Relic continues to tinker and experiment. Tales of Valor almost feels like a blend of action and real-time strategy gaming, something we got to experience first-hand.

Tales of Valor isn't an expansion that requires you to own CoH; it's a stand-alone game that focuses on you controlling a handful of units at a time. In fact, this isn't a "traditional" RTS game, as the single-player campaign doesn't feature any kind of base building or node capturing as seen in CoH. This is a much more tactical game in that sometimes you'll control only a single tank and its crew. The reason is because you become much more invested in your units if you don't have an endless supply of them being churned out at some base. And if you don't have to manage a dozen vehicles and squads over an entire battlefield, you can focus on carefully controlling a small team as it navigates around the map.

To illustrate this, Relic let me play through several of the Tiger Ace missions in the game. In it, you play as an elite German tank crew in the battle of Villers-Bocage in Normandy. In the first mission you must take your tank and attack an Allied-held village, maneuvering your way through the roads and alleyways to take out Allied tanks and antitank guns, as well as shred buildings that infantry have fortified. However, the bad news is that you advance too far, too fast, and your tank is knocked out.

The next battle takes place in the same village, but it begins the crew having to abandon the tank. Now, stuck behind enemy lines, you must work your way on foot back to safety; not an easy task when the village is crawling with Allied infantry. Thankfully, your crewman can recover heavy weapons from the battlefield, as well as call in artillery, to make their escape.

The third battle represents payback, as your tank crew has a tank again, and you lead a large offensive into the village. While there are other German tanks and infantry units beside yours, you do not control them directly. Instead, you must focus on having your tank serve as the catalyst in the battle, helping to break deadlocks as well as bail out other units that get in trouble.

Point blank.

It's important to note that the damage that you do to the village is persistent. If you destroy a house in the first battle, it stays destroyed throughout the second and third battles. This means that you what happens in the first battle can effect what happens in the third depending on the state of the battlefield.

To give the gameplay more of a kick there's something called a direct-fire mode. Instead of you giving an order for the tank to destroy something, you control the tank and its turret. It's basically like an action game, as drive the tank around the map yourself and try and engage targets by using the mouse as an aiming cursor. You'll find yourself mashing the button to get a round off, or be in such a hurry that you miss the target. It makes the action much more immediate and personal as you're not just sitting back and giving orders, you're caught up in the battle directly.
Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor Screenshot
There's also a reason you should blow things up aside from just having fun. The resource system no longer depends on capturing nodes that provide fuel or ammo. In fact, there are no capture nodes. Instead, you're rewarded fuel and ammo for killing enemy units and vehicles. And as for repairing damage, there is a repair ability that costs munitions points. You want to ration it out, though, not only because of the point cost, but because it immobilizes the tank, making it a nice fat target.

This is an RTS that almost looks like a shooter.

Meanwhile, each of your crewman have special abilities that they can unlock, not unlike the doctrine abilities seen in CoH. Litzke, the loader, can unlock high-explosive rounds, rapid fire, and improved rapid fire, letting him load the gun faster. Schraf, the driver, can unlock flank speed to drive faster as well as turret overdrive, which lets the turret move faster. Burndt, the commander, can unlock a machine gun atop the turret, as well as a smoke grenade launcher and the ability to call in an artillery barrage. Schultz, the gunner, can improve his marksmanship. All these skills are persistent, so if you unlock them in one mission they carry over to subsequent missions.

Playing through that campaign really did feel like a blend of action and RTS gaming. This feels like there will be an expansion's worth of content, too, as Tales of Valor will feature three campaigns consisting of three to four missions each. Now, fans of COH's superb multiplayer suite should note that Relic barely discussed multiplayer at all when we were there. That's to be revealed in the future, but the developer did say that the multiplayer doesn't feature the same massive changes as the single-player campaign. There's a big COH multiplayer community out there, so they're looking to deliver more content to feed that. There will also be some new multiplayer modes, such as a co-op mode called invasion. Up to four players see how long they can last against waves of enemies.
Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor Screenshot
Tales of Valor looks to be a nice change for the series, especially since people were wondering just how Relic could expand Company of Heroes further without creating a Pacific campaign. It's also a sign that risk taking is alive and well at the development house. Tales of Valor will ship sometime in 2009.

Iron Man 2 in 2010

poster_ironman-2

Sega announced today, their collaboration with Marvel Entertainment to craft the next installment of the Iron Man video game series that will coincide with the theatrical release of Iron Man 2 in 2010. As per always, the Iron Man 2 game will be on most platforms, and only appeal to kids and parents that don’t know crap about quality video games. In the press release below, Sega promises to give the player a newly enhanced gameplay experience. I won’t hold my breath. Anybody that’s not a sucker for these crappy movie games knows that all they do is throw an Iron Man skin over some old, tepid game engine, tie in some voice acted cut scenes, and call it a day. But with all the lame ass movie games out there, I ask you this. Why didn’t we see a Dark Knight game? Someone thought it would have been too good?

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON –(Business Wire)– Feb 03, 2009 SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA of Europe Ltd today announced a continuation of their existing partnership with Marvel Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:MVL) to include Iron Man 2™, the video game. The multi-platform title is slated to come out in 2010 along with the Marvel Studios film of the same name, a sequel to the 2008 box office triumph distributed by Paramount Pictures.

The Golden Avenger will return to the videogame screen with Iron Man 2

“We are thrilled to build on the success of the Iron Man phenomenon and work with Marvel and Paramount on another epic project,” says Simon Jeffery, President of SEGA of America, Inc. “SEGA and Marvel are collaborating closely to ensure we deliver an authentic Iron Man experience.”

The game is currently in production at SEGA Studios San Francisco. SEGA has continued to refine its game engine so that players can expect an entirely new and enhanced gameplay experience. Stay tuned for more information about Iron Man 2, the video game.

Half Life 2: Episode 3 - In 2010?!?

I know a lot of people who build a new gaming computer, and then jump right to Crysis, Age of Conan, or any other game that became notorious in the last year, maybe two, the most. That's fine, but I think most of those who get their first gaming computer these days are missing a lot of games, like Far Cry(the original, not the new one!), Warcraft 3(addons included) and, of course, Half Life and Half Life 2!

While Half Life, the original, may seem like a Ford T on the highway, these days, Half Life 2 is a game worth checking out, especially since Half Life 2: Episode 3 won't come out that fast. After all, despite its age - over 4 years now, Half Life 2 can still put most low-end video cards to the test when pushing settings to the max, and that's pretty good for such an "oldie."<-180x150 Small Rectangle - right->

The sad story is that when Valve announced the gaming community that Half Life 2 would get Episode 3 in time for last year's Christmas, everything was looking just great. Unfortunately, things proved to be quite different, since we'll soon reach another Christmas, and I see no sign of Half Life 2: Episode 3. I don't have eagle eyes, but I'm not blind either, so I have to ask: when will we get Half Life 2: Episode 3???

Talking to Kikizo, Doug Lombardi, Valve's the marketing director and official voice, made a terrible confession - "The next time you play as Gordon will be longer than the distance between Half-Life 2 to Episode 1, and Episode 1 to Episode 2."

Why such a big distance, to push Half Life 2: Episode 3 way into 2010? Well, it seems Valve is very busy to promote Left 4 Dead, its upcoming zombie shooter, but I only hope one thing - they won't leave all Half Life fans to die waiting for the third episode. After all, I am sure even some gaming chicks are waiting for a new encounter with Gordon Freeman, right? Anyway, since boys will be waiting for Alyx Vance to come join Gordon once again, we all have somebody to wait for, but 2010 sounds sooo far.

King Of Fighters Movie goes sci-fi

The King of Fighters movie logo posterThe latest fighting game to be turned into a movie is The King of Fighters which is set for release sometime in 2010.

Other upcoming game movies based on fighting games include Tekken and the Street Fighter-based movie Street Fighter: The legend of Chun-Li (starring Kristen Kruek aka Lana Lane from Smallville as Chun-Li) and the already released Dead or Alive film.

The King of Fighters flick will see the franchise getting a science fiction angle (something not found in the games, at least to my knowledge) as revealed in this quote from the MovieSet:

It also looks like the King of Fighters movie will introduce a new science fiction spin into the setting established in the games’ universe by following the surviving members of three legendary fighting clans who are continually whisked away to other dimensions by an evil power. As the fighters enter each new world they battle that universe’s native defenders, while the force that brought them seeks to find a way to invade and infect our world. Hmm, doesn’t seem very faithful to the games to me, eh.

Naturally the game is based on the long-running “The King of Fighters” franchise of fighting games by SNK Playmore. A series which is on it’s 12th core entry with The King of Fighters XII and has spawned a whopping 13 spin-off games. To put that into perspective, the Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter franchises are still in single digits (Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe is the 8th MK game while Street Fighter is on it’s fourth CORE entry with Street Fighter IV, even though there’s been tons of spin-offs and re-releases).

The King of Fighters movie began filming in Vancouver, Canada on November 27th. It’s being directed by Gordon Chan, a dynamic Hong-Kong-born director who is known for films like Fist of legend, Beast Cop and Jackie Chan’s 2003 flick The Medallion. The screenplay is by newcomer Rita Augustine.

As far as actors are concerned, The King of Fighters will star Maggie Q (Live Free and Die Hard), Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Will Yun Lee (Elektra), Francoise Yip (Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem), Monique Ganderton (Supernatural) and Ray Park, best known for his portrayal as Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

Producing the movie will be Joseph Chou (Appleseed: Ex Machina), Tim Kwok (Wicked City) and Bobby Sheng. The picture is being jointly financed by Japanese production and rights management group Micott & Basara and Australian-U.S. sales agent Arclight/Easternlight.

Gears of War 3 for Christmas 2010?

Gears of War 3 for Christmas 2010? screenshot

Some have assumed that a new Gears of War game won't be revealed until the next generation of consoles are on their way, but a fresh rumor reports that we could be seeing Gears 3 by Christmas 2010.

EGM is spreading the gossip, where it is also claimed that the title will have an all-new "five player co-op experience." The hint here is that five people can play through the campaign mode, which seems a little more like fan fantasy than anything else.

It may be true, it may not. As inevitable as Gears 3 is, talk of a follow up game wasn't expected for quite some time. Perhaps the success of the last title was just too tempting to merely sit on.

New Fuel screenshots charge through the tracks

If you like your off-road racing games to have a bit of story and plot added on for good measure, then perhaps the upcoming game Fuel might be to your liking. Today Codemasters send out new screenshots from the game, due out this spring, that's being developed by Asobo Studios.

If you aren't familiar with the game, Fuel takes place in an alternate timeline where resources are scarce due to the increased events of global warming. Gasoline is in short supply so racers take their off-road vehicles to matches to try to win even more fuel. Codemasters is still promising a massive open world for the game along with having to deal with weather effects like snow, rain, tornadoes and more. Just like your regular commute.

Termed as a replacement for VFR800 and CBR1100XX in the global motorcycle market, the Honda VFR1000 model is expected to be picked up by bike enthusiasts as soon as it hits dealerships. The company, meanwhile, is now studying the market potential for superbikes in the country. Honda might even bring in a higher capacity VFR bike to India next year, it is said.

Both the VFR1000 and VR800 motorcycles will come to India as completely built units (CBU).

Push button gear changes for fast gear-shifts and Honda’s new combined ABS system will make the VFR1000 really exclusive in India.

In the meantime, on the international scene the company created a splash at the recent New York International Motorcycle Show, by showcasing the stylish 2010 Fury. Extremely stylish and loaded with avariety of features, the Fury will boast of being a radical concept in a unique package.

Dubbed as a chopper mobike, the 2010 Honda Fury is a 1300cc vehicle Expected to be introduced to the US market early next spring, there are speculations that the bike might be a hybrid with a gas and electric motor.

Mad Catz Street Fighter IV FightPad Review: I'm Going to Kill You So, So Bad

Let's get this much out of the way: Shoryuken for shoryuken, the Mad Catz Street Fighter IV FightPad is a vastly superior instrument of destruction compared to the standard Xbox 360 controller.

Price: $40

Verdict: In one sense, the verdict is that straightforward—the fantastic floating D-Pad and arcade-style six-button layout crush the regular Xbox 360 controller when it comes to fighting games. The FightPad makes my game so much better, so much more precise, I don't think I could go back to using the old pad.

Here's what I mean: With the old pad, on average, I would successfully execute Fei Long's rising dragon kick (or insert any dragon punch-based maneuver) about 5-7 times out of 10 tries. With the FightPad, it's like 9 times out of 10. Moves requiring 720-degree motions, like Zangief's super, come off much easier as well, and exactly when I want it to (when someone's up in my face—PILEDRIVER). Back, forward, back forward style specials, like with Honda or Blanka, aren't noticeably easier to perform, though.

The shape and layout of the FightPad kinda reminds me of a Sega Genesis controller, and is for the most part, excellent, though if you have elven hands it might feel a little too big. For me, with medium mitts, it fits perfectly, no matter which way I hold it (I actually turn my right hand palm side down, so I can mash the buttons with my fingers whenever I play fighting games) and there's some breathing room for gorilla-handed people too.

But there are some things you should know about that would be dealbreakers if beating people didn't matter above all else. Numero uno, on the Xbox 360, this sucker is wired, which is lame balls for a $40 controller. It also feels very cheaply made, with glossy plastic Mad Catz found and melted down after it fell off a Christmas ornament truck. The rubber coating on the sides and back helps a little bit. Last, the sound quality coming through the headset on this thing is really terrible, like I was stranded on a desert island with a cellphone from 1987—it's noticeably crappier than it is on the regular Xbox 360 controllers.

Those things said, if you wanna do better in Street Fighter IV—or any fighting game really, since it worked fantastically with Samurai Showdown II and SFIITHDR as well—and not have a real reason to curse at your controller when you get scrubbed, but don't wanna (or can't) drop the money on the outrageously awesome Tournament Edition FightStick, this is a reasonable alternative, if you can actually find it for the $40 MSRP.

$36 Million Virtual Reality Game to Train US Soldiers

The Pentagon has just given the U.S. Office of Naval Research $36 million for what it calls a "futuristic" experiment in training soldiers to deal with terrorists by using immersive virtual reality scenarios.

The experiment, dubbed the Future Immersive Training Environment (FITE) Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD), will be, according to the ONR:

A critical, one-of-a-kind futuristic training program in which warfighters would train here at home in preparation for the types of small, urban and borderless conflicts that have spread throughout the middle east and other regions of the world . . . [it will be] a realistic, live-action virtual environment, that provides warfighter trainees feedback that allows for combined arms integration.

Apparently it will emphasize the "human" side of warfare, which is an odd assertion to make about a computer simulation.

Navy researcher George Solhan said the goal is to create "physically and mentally adaptable joint warriors winning and surviving in all phases of warfare." It's fascinating that as warfare becomes more virtual, via robots and UAVs, training also becomes more virtual. I'm curious about how Solhan believes a videogame-style simulation will create "physically adaptable" warriors - is this game sort of Guitar Hero-ish, or Dance Dance Revolutiony with a foot pad?

If $36 million sounds like a huge budget to you, consider that Grand Theft Auto IV cost $100 million. Final Fantasy XII cost $35 million.

SOURCE: Office of Naval Research

Image via US Dept of Defense

UPDATE: What might this virtual reality system look like? It may be similar to an immersive training program that the Navy created last year. Here's a description of that one:

Trainees use their regular tactical equipment, but weapons are modified to shoot special effects small arms marking system (SESAMS) rounds, which are similar in concept to paintball rounds. Trainees and role players use paintball masks for added protection. As the trainees move from room to room, they may encounter live role players or virtual characters. Occasionally, pyrotechnics are used to increase realism.

Halo 3 knocks out Spider Man and Harry Potter

H3

Well everyone foretold of the coming of Halo 3 and we all saw the fierce campaigns and marketing strategies, looks like they paid off big. Halo 3 is now the big daddy of entertainment, kudos to MS and Bungie, they have de-throwned Spider Man and Harry Potter.

Halo 3 pulled in a record $170 million in 24 hours, now that is one impressive statistic and shows the reach that video games and gamers have now a days. Yesterday when I was on Halo3 there was an impressive 600,000 people playing at the same time and this does not count those people playing offline, just think that all those people made up only $36 million of that reported $170, so there are a lot of peripherals, consoles, controllers, etc. flying off the shelves.

From the press release:

Microsoft today announced that the Xbox 360 exclusive game “Halo 3” has officially become the biggest entertainment launch in history, garnering an estimated $170 million in sales in the United States alone in the first 24 hours. The Xbox 360 title beat previous records set by blockbuster theatrical releases like “Spider-man 3” and novels such as “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

“Halo 3” is the conclusion to the epic trilogy and picks up where “Halo 2” left off, answering questions around the fates of the beloved protagonist Master Chief and his artificial intelligence sidekick Cortana as they struggle to save humankind from destruction at the hands of the alien coalition known as the Covenant. In addition to the rich storyline, “Halo 3” continues the franchise’s grand tradition of delivering innovative online multiplayer experiences via Xbox LIVE, the world’s largest social network on TV.

“Halo 3 has become a pop-culture phenomenon,” said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. “Not only is “Halo 3” setting sales records, it’s also redefining entertainment.

Within the first 20 hours alone, we’ve seen more than a million Xbox LIVE members come online to play Halo 3 – that makes September 25 the most active Xbox LIVE gaming day in history.”

Retailers have also expressed their excitement about the launch of “Halo 3.”

Bob McKenzie, Senior Vice President of Merchandising for GameStop Corp commented that, “With consumer demand for Halo 3 and related products, we expect it to be the biggest video game title generator in GameStop’s history.”

“The initial demand we’ve seen for ‘Halo 3’ has been astounding, and the game is on track to become the number one gaming title of all time. ‘Halo 3’ is a genuine entertainment phenomenon and our customers have responded very enthusiastically to the release,” said Jill Hamburger, vice president of movies and games at Best Buy.

Developed by Bungie Studios, the “Halo” franchise is exclusive to the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and optimized for the Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network. The more than 7 million Xbox LIVE users will get a continually evolving gaming experience with “Halo 3.” Its online multiplayer and cooperative gameplay for Xbox LIVE Gold users, the much-talked-about Saved Films feature that enables players to capture and save their favorite moments on their hard drives, and Forge, an innovative map editor that enables infinite customization options are just some of the new features to experience.

More than 10,000 retailers hosted Midnight Madness events to celebrate the launch of this third installment in the billion-dollar franchise. In New York, Seattle, Miami and Los Angeles, Microsoft and retail partners hosted marquee launch events that featured contests and appearances by local celebrities and professional athletes who are fanatical about the “Halo” franchise, including Ludacris and Zac Efron and Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates.

More than 1.7 million copies of “Halo 3” were preordered in the United States before a single store opened its doors at midnight, Sept. 25, making this the fasting pre-selling game in history, surpassing the previous record-setting pre-sales of “Halo 2.” Well beyond just a U.S. phenomenon, the launch of “Halo 3” was a worldwide celebration that released in 37 countries and available in 17 languages.

About Xbox 360

Xbox 360 is a superior video game and entertainment system delivering the best games, unique entertainment features and a unified online gaming network that revolve around gamers. Xbox 360 will have a portfolio of more than 300 games and will be available in nearly 40 countries by the end of 2007. More information can be found online at http://www.xbox.com/xbox360.

Call of Duty: World at War Gets Patch and Free New Map

Call of Duty 5 Screen

Calling all CoD:WaW players, Activision is dropping some free content on your today. A new daytime varient of the Makin map is included in today’s patch, which fixes all kinds of stuff.

While free content is great, it’s not like Activision is really blowing the doors off with this. While a new lighting variant changes the gameplay a bit, it doesn’t provide a totally new setting.

If you want to see all the changes from the patch today, head on over to the Call of Duty site.

The Lost and Damned Sets Xbox Live Record

GTA IV The Lost and Damned Screen 4

As if you didn’t expect this, GTA IV: The Lost and Damned set a new record for downloadable content on Xbox Live. The expansion pack “eclipsed first-day revenue” for every other piece of DLC out there.

Just how many copies did it sell or how much did it make? Microsoft and Rockstar aren’t saying. Is it worth their $50 million investment? Only time will tell.

How many of you out there actually picked this one up?

Here’s the full press release:

“Grand Theft Auto IV” Steals A Download Record with Xbox 360 Exclusive Episode “Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned”

Already owner of the biggest entertainment launch in history, the “Grand Theft Auto IV” franchise continues its rampage on the record books with the Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable episode, “The Lost and Damned.” The highest reviewed downloadable content ever from Rockstar Games eclipsed first-day revenue for all previous downloadable content on Xbox LIVE.

“Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned” energized the already vibrant “Grand Theft Auto IV” community, resulting in a greater increase in active users the week before launch than seen from any previous downloadable content. With over ten hours of gameplay and new multiplayer modes, “The Lost and Damned” has received acclaim from critics and gamers alike, setting a new bar for quality and depth in episodic content.

“The success of ‘Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned’ redefines what consumers expect from Game Add-ons,” said Marc Whitten, general manager of Xbox LIVE. “Content like this is extending the lives of our favorite games and fundamentally changing the way we play.”

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, “Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned” follows new protagonist Johnny Klebitz and his motorcycle gang as they wreak havoc on the streets of Liberty City. Featuring new missions, multiplayer modes, weapons and vehicles, as well as a diverse soundtrack with brand new music, “The Lost and Damned” continues the epic “Grand Theft Auto IV” story exclusively on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE.

“The Lost and Damned” is available for download on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 1600 Microsoft Points and requires the full version of Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360.

Rockstar Announces Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption Screen 1

Remember Red Dead Revolver? The Xbox 360 launch title ended up being a semi sleeper hit while people were getting used to the new console. Rockstar knows how much you loved it and announced a sequel.

Red Dead Redemption is a Western epic, set at the turn of the 20th century when the lawless and chaotic badlands began to give way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age. The story of former outlaw, John Marston, Red Dead Redemption takes players on a great adventure across the American frontier.

I loved the first one, so naturally I’m excited for the sequel. Shooting shit as a cowboy is always a good time. Red Dead Redemption is hitting the Xbox 360 and PS3 in Fall 2009. Check out more screens after the jump.

Rockstar Games announces Red Dead Redemption for Fall 2009

New York, NY – February 4, 2009 – Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce that Red Dead Redemption is scheduled for a fall 2009 release on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. Developed by Rockstar San Diego, as a follow up to the 2004 hit game, Red Dead Revolver, Red Dead Redemption is a Western epic, set at the turn of the 20th century when the lawless and chaotic badlands began to give way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age. The story of former outlaw, John Marston, Red Dead Redemption takes players on a great adventure across the American frontier.

“The team at San Diego have massively exceeded our expectations with the sheer depth of experiences in Red Dead Redemption,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The seamless combination of breathtaking beauty and intense action, all woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant, rural environment is mind-blowing. We think this game helps to push the limits of what an open-world gaming experience can be.”

Utilizing Rockstar’s proprietary Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE), Red Dead Redemption features an open-world environment for players to explore, including frontier towns, rolling prairies teeming with wildlife, and perilous mountain passes - each packed with an endless flow of varied distractions. Along the way, players will experience the heat of gunfights and battles, meet a host of unique characters, struggle against the harshness of one of the world’s last remaining wildernesses, and ultimately pick their own precarious path through an epic story about the death of the Wild West and the gunslingers that inhabited it.

Red Dead Redemption will be available in fall 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 consoles. For more information please visit www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption
