A concept by designer Leon Peng, the Cole Cleaner (not a typo) will treat your soda of choice to a little bacteria-killing UV radiation. Granted, I'd rather not think about what gross stuff there could be on top of the can, but it only does one drink at a time, and only soft drink cans. Japanese stationary designer Metaphys has designed a pen that kicks that old pen's butt. The sleek, trim Locus 3WAY pen, selling for about $55, has an ink pen, mechanical pencil and eraser — all just one click away.
While the triple design is certainly reason enough to pick up a pen like this, the designer thinks that the clip is the real deal.
"Writing items are personal objects, which reflect the personality of the owner. Most pens have only subtle differences in writing function. METAPHYS has therefore focused on how the pen's clip is displayed outwardly on a chest pocket. The stroke-like clip has become an icon representative of METAPHYS writing instruments."

Here’s a nice update to the classic boring walking stick. It adds a few extra features that make using a walking stick far more convenient. The big perk being that the stick is housed with LED lights. Making walking at night a lot easier to do and definitely a lot more safe. Sony Ericsson has announced their new portable bluetooth speaker known as the MS500.
This speaker comes with a splash proof case as well as a lanyard wrist strap, making it suitable as an outdoor wireless speaker.
The MS500 includes bluetooth technology allowing you to use your cell phone as a remote control to adjust volume settings and change tracks. The speaker can connect with a mobile handset within a 10 metre range.
The unit is available in either orange and black or white and pink and is powered by 2 AA batteries which can give you up to 5 hours of music enjoyment. Pricing and release date for the MS500 are expected to be announced shortly.
ThumbTack is a mini microphone designed for the Nano 4G or Touch 2G. This iPod mic takes the shape of a familiar everyday object, a common thumbtack.
The reason this shape was selected was because it allows for easy insertion and removal of the microphone from the iPod.

Mosquitoes are more then just a flying pest and are a huge concern in some parts of the world as they are the source of mosquito transmitted viral diseases such as Dengue Fever, Malaria, Rift Valley Fever and Yellow Fever.
There have been many attempts to reduce infections with the use of mosquito nets, repellents and medications and although they are of some benefit, these flying insects are still a problem.
Researchers in the US are examining the potential of using laser technology to control mosquito populations. The technology has shown promise in the lab where they have been able to detect, track and emit non-lethal lasers at mosquitoes. The ultimate goal would be to have laser nets around homes or flying unmanned drones that could shoot down the flying mosquitoes. Things that still need to be addressed include finding the right level of laser intensity so that it is lethal only to mosquitoes as well as having a system that can distinguish between friendly insects and foe.
I’ve never been too thrilled with the guns that have been released for the Wii. Some are so cheaply made that they break in no time at all. Others are large and bulky and although they do the job, it’d be nice if there was something durable and smaller. Well here’s a Wii accessory that although there’s no way to know how durable it is, it actually looks great. Whoever designed it actually put creative thought into the gun, which is far more effort than I’ve seen put into a great deal of the Wii accessories.

Anna Konda, a nice play on words, is the robotic fire fighting design of the Norwegian research company, the Sintef Group. Weighing in at 75 kilos and at a length of 3 meters, this robot possesses 20 joints providing it with a significant degree of dexterity. With this level of flexibility, the hose is able to traverse into narrow spots in an effort to extinguish flames by shooting water out of it’s anterior end.
This unit is water powered with each joint having the ability to withstand pressures of up to 1450 PSI. Considering that Anna Konda is designed to fight fires, it makes sense for it to be able to handle tough working environments as well as remain cool in the presence of high temperatures created by uncontrolled flames.
