GelaSkins

Let’s face it, there’s a ton of skins out there for your consoles and electronics that are extremely ugly, bulky, and cliche. I’ve tried several skins in the past, but I was never satisfied with any of them. Then I found a product called GelaSkins. Out of all of the lame skull, flame, and flaming skull designs the market carries, finally, I found something worth checking out.

I applaud GelaSkins for doing something several companies can’t seem to do, which is create a product people will love showing off and using. I’m tired of all of the various skull, flame, and plainly colored designs all over the market today. GelaSkins is a breath of fresh air for the skins department, as it has over 50 different artists supplying their designs, and an extremely extensive gallery of skins to choose from. Mind you, the artists featured aren’t nobodies. These are artists many of you may recognize and love, such as Jason Limón, Vincent van Gogh, Colin Thompson, Ralph Steadman, and one of my favorite toy designers, Joe Ledbetter.

The skins use 3M adhesive and vinyl technology which allow them to be freely removed without causing any sticky residue or bubbles. This is also useful for when you’re applying them to your product, in case you don’t put them on right the first time. They’re very easy to apply and, thankfully, do not add any bulk, which is extremely useful if you wanna put your iPod or Nintendo DS Lite in a docking system or protective case. If you decide to get an iPod skin, GelaSkins even throws in a nice screen protector to go along with it to aid in hiding and defending scratches.

GelaSkins also offers a custom service, in case you want your own design. This is only recommended to businesses or artists who would like to promote themselves, as the minimum order they accept is 50 units.

Prices for all items are decent. iPod skins go for about $13, while the iPod Touch and iPhone skins are $15. The Nintendo DS Lite and PSP products are $20. The most expensive designs are $30, which cover Mac laptops and PC laptops.

The only true problem I’ve had with these skins is the fact that it took multiple tries to place on my iPod and Nintendo DS for me to get it right. I kept putting it on too loosely which caused blank spaces to show. Blank edges were shown on my iPod, which I wasn’t too happy about. I had to scrape the edge of my iPod to get the sticker underneath my nail, which caused a little damage to the skin.

Overall, I’m really impressed with what GelaSkins has to offer. Their designs are top-notch, and can easily be used to express and excite others. I had fun showing all of my friends my Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Gonzo skin on my iPod Video, along with my kickass Red Robot Leaving The City design on my DS Lite. GelaSkins is totally the ruler of all handheld decorations. These skins are cool, easy to remove, and comfortable. GelaSkins are definitely something to check out.
