LightLane - The Bike Lane That Follows You

All bicyclists adhere to bicycle safety guidelines when riding along busy streets. There are some things that you can control like having a well fitting bike helmet, wearing reflective clothing during a night ride and using hand signals but inevitably, there are some things that are much harder to control such as impatient motorists that drive to close to the curb.

LightLane is an ingenious gadget that uses lasers to clearly outline a virtual bike lane behind the bicyclist.

This virtual lane defines a lane that motor vehicle drivers can see and will hopefully respect. With the price of gas only increasing, more people will turn to green transportation and biking will be one of them.

We hear everyday of cars colliding with bikes and if products such as LightLane can improve bike safety, it will be a real plus for everyone.

JetBike - Jet Powered Flying Bike Concept.

The concept design today is not just restricted to the ones running on the road but designers today are coming up with exciting designs for both modes of transportation, be it on air or on water. These also include the designs aimed for leisure and pleasure, on these lines come the “Jetbike” designed by San Francisco based designer Norio Fulikawa. The concept looks hot as it can be said to be the racing bike of water because it is aerodynamically designed and has an awesome exhaust pipe and two fins to support its surge forward. All in all an awesome concept!

Honda VFR1000 bike upcoming bike in 2010

After superbike launches from Yamaha nd Suzuki in 2008, now it is time for Honda to join the fray with its superbike VFR1000. Honda sources said that the company has finalised plans to unveil the VFR1000 soon after the other launches it has scheduled for 2009. The actual launch date would be at the end of 2009 or beginning of 2010.

Honda VFR800 is an extremely popular motorcycle. The VFR800, as well as a new VFR1000 which will be launched internationally are being planned for India.

Termed as a replacement for VFR800 and CBR1100XX in the global motorcycle market, the Honda VFR1000 model is expected to be picked up by bike enthusiasts as soon as it hits dealerships. The company, meanwhile, is now studying the market potential for superbikes in the country. Honda might even bring in a higher capacity VFR bike to India next year, it is said.

Both the VFR1000 and VR800 motorcycles will come to India as completely built units (CBU).

There is no clear information on the technical specifications of the new VFR1000 motorcycle available yet - but there are a few aspects which have been clarified. The VFR1000 is a sport-tourer, but in the 2009 version, the accent would shift more towards the sports side. The VFR1000 will be powered by a 1000 cc, 5 cylinder engine. Push button gear changes for fast gear-shifts and Honda’s new combined ABS system will make the VFR1000 really exclusive in India.

In the meantime, on the international scene the company created a splash at the recent New York International Motorcycle Show, by showcasing the stylish 2010 Fury. Extremely stylish and loaded with avariety of features, the Fury will boast of being a radical concept in a unique package.

Dubbed as a chopper mobike, the 2010 Honda Fury is a 1300cc vehicle Expected to be introduced to the US market early next spring, there are speculations that the bike might be a hybrid with a gas and electric motor.

Hot eco-Ride - Vectrix Electric Superbike

Though it was unveiled in the year 2007 at Milan and needed some changes in the lithium battery, we do hope that 15 months have been enough to bring out this super model. Its a zero emission, 200km/h green machine. Watch out.

Mission EV Electric Sports Bike Runs 150mph

There have been some fair electric cars are set come out with a bang and there over the past couple of years, but valuable little in the form of bikes, so far.

This curvy looking beauty, which looks extraordinarily like something Batman would ride around on, is the Mission One EV Sports Bike and the ability of arriving at speeds up 150mph.

On the other hand, you will also get around 150 miles from the built in battery, even though we doubt you’d be capable of to do this distance at top speed, and best of all it’s equipped recharging in under two hours which is a far cry from the original ‘overnight’ times of the early Teslas.

Quite surprisingly, this is not a concept design either and even though the first 50 will be limited edition models which costs around $68.995 each, a ‘more reasonable’ alternative is going to be declared in the summer. The first lot is ready to be delivered in 2010, though it will in addition be making its race debut at the TTXGP on June 12th.
