UFC 2009 Undisputed Gameplay Impressions
Absurd licensing agreements aside, the majority of us are looking forward to the release of the UFC’s newest video game, UFC 2009 Undisputed. So far, we’ve seen the life-like graphics and quite a few videos of the game in action. However, what’s really going to determine if this game is just a prettier version of UFC: Sudden Impact or if it’s the Madden of MMA video games will be the gameplay.
IGN.com announced yesterday that Rashad Evans has officially been added to THQ’s UFC 2009 Undisputed roster. Rashad seems very excited about his inclusion, and had quite a bit to say about it.
“I think it’s an honor,” Evans said of his inclusion in the upcoming title. “I never thought I’d be in a videogame, and I’m happy about that. To be a part of the whole organization and to be a part of the videogame, that’s my immortality right there. I may die next year, or in the next couple of days or whatever, but I’ll always be in that videogame.”
“I think it’s very important (that a knockout or submission can happen at any time). How many times have you played videogames and you have to go through the whole health bars before you finally get ‘em, and that can be a pain and it’s not reality. Sometimes you go out there and you just get that one-hitter quitter and it’s over,” said Evans. “I think it’s going to make a lot of new fans, people who’ve never even seen the UFC before but who love the videogame are going to start tuning in and it’s going to bring a whole new fan base and continue to grow the sport. And, the other thing it’s going to do is educate the people on the moves that are happening in the UFC. It’s going to be a teaching tool as well, because now people only see one thing, the knock outs. We’re not standing there with 16-ounce gloves on. We’re wearing four-ounce gloves, and there’s little room for error. You get hit with one of those bad boys and you can call it goodnight. The game will help people see there’s more to it than that though.”
