This is not an old-fashioned phone

And it will never be, there’s no doubt about it. Because this phone wasn’t meant to become obsolete. Maybe some of you don’t care very much about the phone they use as long as they have the chance to do what they’re supposed to do: communicate with the world outside. But there’s a special category of people who want to own the latest phone models, being some sort of a statement of their welfare and status. I don’t believe in such “symbols”, but who am I to judge those who do?

But what if you could do something in order to have the same phone, but still benefit the evolution of technology? Well, those who give this issue a deep thought came up with the Sustainable Mobile Phone, designed by Will Orrock, being a device that is designed to last… forever.

Now, let’s see how in earth is this concept possible, ‘cause like it or not, this is only a concept. The design is based on two major components: layers and upgrade. First of all, there are four different layers: the battery, the OLED display wrap, a high-strength polymer housing and the printed circuit board. What’s very important about these four layers is that they can be tackled separately.

The second component, as I said earlier, is the upgrade. So, the hardware AND software can be upgraded so that the user can enjoy the latest trends that one can find in the market at a specific point. The eco-friendly part of the phone is that the discarded parts can be recycled.

And look now at the standard features list: a 360-degree screen, a haptic touchscreen, an internal memory of 32GB, a magnetic dock connection, a 8.1 megapixel camera, the sync and charge functions and the Bluetooth headphones.

If this concept will ever hit the mass production, there will never be an old-fashioned phone in the market.
